Our Privacy Philosophy

Look, we get it. Privacy policies are usually boring legal jargon that no one reads. We're gonna keep this real with you.

BlockBud is built on a simple principle: your screen time data is yours and yours alone. We don't want it, we don't need it, and we literally cannot access it even if we wanted to.

What Data We DON'T Collect

How Your Data is Stored

Everything happens on your device using Apple's iOS storage system. Here's exactly where your data lives:

• Your block lists: Saved in your iPhone's secure local storage (UserDefaults)
• Focus session statistics: Stored locally on your device only
• Shield customizations: Images and settings saved in your app's private container
• App preferences: All stored locally using iOS standard storage mechanisms

When you delete the app, ALL of this data is deleted with it. We have no backup copies because we never had access to begin with.

Screen Time API & Permissions

BlockBud uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls framework) to block apps. Here's what that means:

• We need permission to use Screen Time features to actually block apps (that's the whole point!)
• This permission is required by iOS and managed by Apple, not us
• The Screen Time data never leaves your device - it's processed entirely locally
• We only use this API to apply the restrictions YOU configure

Photo Library Access (Optional)

If you choose to add custom images to your shield screens, we'll ask for photo library access. Here's the deal:

• This permission is completely optional - you can use BlockBud without it
• We only access the specific photos you choose
• Selected photos are copied to the app's local storage on your device
• We never upload your photos anywhere

Third-Party Services

We don't use any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

The only third-party involved is Apple, since BlockBud is distributed through the App Store and uses iOS APIs. Apple has their own privacy policies, but they're pretty solid about privacy too.

Children's Privacy

BlockBud doesn't collect any data from anyone, including children. Since everything is stored locally on the device, there's no data collection to worry about regardless of age.

If you're under 13, make sure you have a parent or guardian's permission before downloading any apps.

Data Security

Since your data never leaves your device, it's protected by your iPhone's built-in security features:

• iOS encryption protecting your device storage
• Your device passcode/Face ID/Touch ID protecting access to the device
• App sandboxing preventing other apps from accessing BlockBud's data

We can't lose your data in a breach because we never have it in the first place. That's the best security there is.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we ever change this privacy policy, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top and notify users through the app.

That said, we can't imagine a future where we'd start collecting data. Privacy-first isn't just a feature - it's our foundation.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect your data, you already have complete control over it! But here's what you can do:

• Access your data: It's all in the app on your device
• Delete your data: Just delete the app, and all data goes with it
• Export your data: Currently, all data is stored locally. We're considering adding export features in future updates
